Meet the new Executive Director of The Hearth at Drexel: Discover Her New Role and Continued Passion for Service
May 26, 2022
Dana Guyton, the new Executive Director at The Hearth at Drexel, is not new to the Liberty Lutheran family.
She began her career at Paul’s Run, a sizable Liberty community, 14 years ago as their Housekeeping and Laundry Manager. During her tenure, Dana’s responsibilities increased and she earned the opportunity to lead many different teams. Her leadership skills and impact on the community continued to grow and flourish as the Personal Care Administrator at Paul’s Run.
On transitioning to her new role, she says, “It was emotional because there are so many staff, residents, and their families with whom I bonded closely at Paul’s Run.”
Dana’s penchant for building strong relationships, combined with her operational background, makes her perfectly suited for the Executive Director position. “Having an operational background causes me to think about how to continually help the staff to grow and develop professionally, while best serving the residents. For example, I look at all of the details in the building, to see it through the eyes of visitors, residents, and their family members. Yet, in recognizing these opportunities for improvement, I am sensitive to what is realistic to achieve in a given time frame.”
I would like to know about your loved one through your eyes so we can see who she is as a whole person and better connect with her.

Of paramount importance to Dana is how the team treats the residents. “My priority is to address a resident’s social, emotional, and spiritual needs in addition to being concerned about their healthcare needs,” she shares. Dana loves interacting with residents and their families. “I have already met many of our residents’ families and have enjoyed talking with them, looking at their photographs, shadowboxes, and other memorabilia that help me get to know them,” Dana explains. When meeting with families, she tells them, “I would like to know about your loved one through your eyes so we can see who she is as a whole person and better connect with her.”
When discussing goals in her new position, Dana wants to “continue to set standards of best practices, implement new processes and nurture people in a way that supports and builds relationships. There are opportunities to develop and empower staff that will inspire them to own their jobs as part of a team. I want to make a difference in the lives of our residents, and that starts by caring for the team members who provide compassionate care in their daily lives.”
