February 15, 2023
Laurie C. is a delightful Special Concierge at The Hearth at Drexel in Bala Cynwyd, PA, an Assisted Living and Memory Care Community. As part of the Management Team, Laurie’s mission is to be an invaluable resource for residents and their families, provide a seamless transition upon move-in, and continue with the best daily experiences.
Laurie says, “When I joined The Hearth over seven years ago, I was thrilled to continue utilizing my background in working with discriminating senior populations in an area close to home.”
Laurie had previously worked as an Admissions Director and then transferred to the Corporate Human Resource Director position for an organization that managed 17 senior living communities, so she was well-versed in serving seniors. She claims, “As a native of the Main Line in the Philadelphia, PA suburbs, I am knowledgeable about the area and its resources. So, when the corporation I worked for was sold, I wanted to find a new position in senior healthcare that would utilize my background that combines Human Resources and Customer Service.”
Laurie explains, “My job here is to help make the residents’ and Hearth team members’ days flow more easily. She continues, “When I come in during the morning hours, I first visit residents for a morning greeting and see if anyone needs any individual support from me.
She elaborates, “One of the aspects of my job that I truly enjoy is cultivating relationships with the residents here and with their family members. I have an open door policy, so residents and their family members always feel free to drop by to chat.” Executive Director Dana Guyton shares, “Laurie is the heart of our community. In her role, she provides compassionate, personalized attention and support to our residents.”
Laurie can put residents and their families at ease, assuring them that their loved one is in good hands. Dana views Laurie’s skills as “Uniquely beneficial to residents and their families since she serves as a liaison in facilitating their varying needs, such as scheduling doctor’s appointments, arranging transportation, organizing suite maintenance, or even assisting with television and computer issues. Sometimes Laurie is the sounding board or the shoulder to lean on when our residents need one.”
“I love coming to work every day because my position enables me to support residents and their families in fulfilling ways that enrich their days,” says Laurie.
